GIGS GALORE
It's a series of musical orgasm. I'm high just thinking about it.
First up, Jan 13: Cat Power.
I'm so in love with her. Look at her. A picture of perfection.
Jan 12: Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Mich shouted from across the newsroom, "F, OMG THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS ARE COMING TO SINGAPORE!!!"
I stood up (actually I popped up like a Jack-in-a-box), to see her on her feet too, almost panting with joy. I squealed and jumped around on the spot like a girl posssesed. The resident artiste in the newsroom went, wahhh and clapped, at us.
Karen O. She is so unapologetic about her style and the way she carries herself. So inspiring. This lady rocks and she is how hot la.
Then there's this Graveyard Party with Amanda Palmer this weekend. OMFG, I can't believe I will get to see her perform!!!! *SCREAMS*
If you don't know her, go YouTube it. She is FUN. Like a mash of Katy Perry and Regina Spektor, with a dollop of attitude.
It's called the Graveyard Party cos it's in conjunction with Halloween. The audience are supposed to dress up. We decided not to cos it's too much trouble and fuss for my liking. But today, actually just a few minutes ago, I decided maybe I could be something quirky. Cos I'm not one of those girls who can slut it up, nor do I ever want to be in this lifetime (or any other lifetime for that matter),
I'm gonna be...
...wait for it...
...just a little longer...
*drumroll*
Heh. Ready?
A lego block!!!!
HAHAHAHA!!!
Now I just gotta find me some box I can fit into. :D

FIZA @ FIKA
Ooh, rhyming alliteration. Double the poetic literary goodness. ;p
Work was, for the lack of a more spittingly appropriate word, chibai. But let's focus on the happy cheery sunshiny things.
Like say, how Saffy got me the seatmap for the Cat Power's gig next year before it even goes online and can chope me tickets before sale goes public. Woots!
And how I got these gorgeous patent pointed brogue pumps for half its original price.
I fell in love with it. Quite a steal don't you think?
Then we celebrated Fiza's birthday at this quaint Swedish bistro and cafe along Arab Street called Fika. It's a pretty little place with two very cute waiters/servers. Two good enough reasons for any girl to want to dine in there. Hur hur. A palate for the eyes.
So delectably dainty, the counter. Would love for my kitchen to look like this. I would translate the spirit of Nigella in every single food item I prepare even if it's just Cheerios and milk.
We had summer peach teas, the cheesy wedges for starters and three mains. Okay I retract the term "starters" and would like to change it to "appetizers" instead cos in reality, the wedges came AFTER we were done gorging down our mains. That was a downside.
The baked salmon with lemon butter sauce and sides of potatoes and greens were divine. I could make love to it, erm, a few times.
The dish below though, was the primary reason we were even there to begin with: The Swedish meatballs served with creamy sauce, parsley potatoes, and lingonberry jam. Fiza thought the jam was sambal. Muahaha!!! This is a treat because we've always drooled at the meatballs they serve at Ikea but cannot have them. Fika, on the other hand, is a Halal joint. *cues cheers from all my Muslim bros n sis*
It was yummy, we had two of those. Everything on the plate compliments very well with each other like yin and yang. Damn syiok.
P is for Piquant! Very gastronomically gratifying.
The celebration was low-key, exactly how the sisterhood prefers their birthdays to be. Great food and great conversation. A delightful night in all but we wish Shan was there to complete the picture. Come back soon love! We've missed you much.
Hope you enjoyed your 26th birthday, Fiza Pizza! We heart you deep deep.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
I'm still in the clothes I wore out as I'm typing this. Hur hur.
Today I returned to my roots and caught a play/musical at the Arts House. And for the sole sake of this post expanding ever so frivolously, I cannot name the title of the show.
Anyhoo, aside the fact that I've been neglecting the theatre scene and hence have missed it terribly, I made a point to watch this one in particular cos my senior from college is starring in it. I have such a silly school girl crush on him like you cannot even believe it. I say silly cos the man is freaking gay la. Tragic story of my life.
I don't know what happened. Irony is, I used to watch so much theatre back in school when I was dirt poor and had close to zero purchasing power. It was at least a show a month. Maybe it was because our prof managed to get like awesome deals for us back then. Life took over I guess.
I'm so glad my two colleagues and I went for it cos it was so enjoyable. The concept was so cute. They set it up such that it's some club meeting of sorts and they are trying to recruit the audience. The singing was fab. I'm back, bitches. Mary, Let's do Beauty and the Beast. I'm so on.
Back to the topic of my senior. *melts* Okay the fella is far from hot la but I've always been in awe of him cos he's just one of those people who do what they love and are effing great at it. And I absolutely find nothing else more appealing. And he's always so committed to what he does. Even for a 5 minutes presentation in class, the man would come in with props and music and costumes. Oh BTW, I've always known he's gay so it's not a case of oh-fuck-he-is-gay-I-am-so-heartbroken. But I still am amazed AND impressed by him nevertheless.
I was sucha a groupie lor. The speed at which I waved my hand when I saw him just now, gosh, the movement would have been a blur to other people who saw it. It was some crazy vigorous serious waving, my hands could have popped out of my socket, flung to the other side of the room and I would not even notice until after show. Heh.
So, he just IM-ed me to say thanks for coming, only to make me realized this is one of those eternal crushes of life. I will always fancy him. He makes me nervous. Like I had to think before I can type a reply. And when I eventually typed something, I would delete it. Re-type. Delete. Re-retype. Urgh.
The whole process was retarded. This whole thing is retarded purely based on the fact that it's not a crush to be developed. It's like crushing on Kurt Cobain, who is not only the rock star of one of the greatest bands in the world, but DEAD. Totally worthless and unattainable.
Okay this is damn funny. I'm now amused. LOL.

STALE
I'm in a blogging rut.
Seriously, my posts are merely permutations of similar events. Each one more prosaic than the previous.
It's like I woke up one day and decided, hey, welcome to the humdrum of my daily routine. Let me now spew the vapidness that is symbolic of what my life has come to be. Drab and dreary. How about a round of applause?
I'm supposed to be resistant to change. It's written in the stars, believe me, look under Taurus. And for the most part, I am. Once I even pride myself in the comfort of my bland existence.
But I think it's due time for a change. Something drastic to shake things up a bit. No, alot.
Where's the exit door to these seemingly endless series of banality?
I need out desperately.

GLEEFUL
So the biggest bestest compliment I've gotten in the past week is from Saffy who said, "You'll be perfect for Glee."
Wah. Made my day. No, week. Hahaha. Well technically it doesn't count cos she is damn good friend of mine so her judgement might be (reads: is actually, very possibly) skewed. But I'll take it. :D
If you've just crawled out from under a rock on the sea bed, next to a pineapple owned by a living talking sponge, hello there. Glee is only the most fun show this fall.
Not gonna elaborate when anyone not techandicapped can simply google and get the info online under 5 minutes. I love shows with singing and dancing. Story line need not be mind-blowing.
Glee is great fun. The songs they do are current and very relevant. Kinda like an adult non-Disney version of High School Musical so it's not so sickeningly squeaky clean. Syiok la. Each epi so far have left me smiling.
I want to be recruited in the Glee club stat.
Take me, take ME!!!

PPPOPTART!
So Poptart happened after a long time coming.
Let see, B was so high he fell onto the podium. Howie helped prop him up while I clutched my sides, cracking up. B said I was mean. I guess I was. But it was crazy funny. After, he puked in the drain outside.
Shooz shot:
Me and the boys. Mine being the ones at the bottom of the picture.
The music was awesome. Not an anomaly there. They even played The Temper Trap's Sweet Disposition. I got damn excited but few seconds into it, it occurred to me that it's the kinda song u slowdance with someone u like or something. Whatever.
Also, some random girl we don't know pulled me up the podium, while Howie and B helped her pushed me up. I. Don't. Do. Podium.
See, I dance cos I love moving to the music, not for an audience. Anyhoo, science had it that I could do nothing about it but just stay up there for awhile until people find something else to occupy their drunk minds with.
Anyhoo, the crew, including Mich and co, eventually joined me up there so it wasn't that weird.
It was fun, I had fun but it felt like there was something missing. I just cannot put my fingers on it.

BRIEF (I hope) MELTDOWN
I feel ugly. I feel like crap. I feel untalented. I feel unworthy. I feel messed-up. I feel fat. I feel tired. I feel resigned. I feel uninspired. I feel stagnant. I feel trapped.
But most of all, I feel stupid.
And that is worse than feeling fat.

*APPALLED*
My favourite SG idol from day one, Sezairi, was in the bottom two this week. I can only watch over the weekend. Work yadablah. Same shit, different day, what else is new.
Anyhoo, I'm quite pissed he got so little votes considering his talent so I'm gonna make sure I get home on time next Wed so I can vote for him.
Abit lame I know but my editor, who I so made fun of, voted as well. His excuse: I hold local talent close to my heart. Wah. Motivation much.
He did a Malay song here, beautifully:
Maroon 5's Sunday Morning here, damn smooth la:
And here, *melts*, James Morrison's You Give Me Something:
Sezairi isn't a looker. But he's a true musician methinks. And yunno how F feels about that. Talent, especially one that involves the arts, is such an attraction.
I'm pretty sure he won't snag the title but I know for a fact he'll make it big, in his own right. Idol is a tad too mainstream for this one.
